Driving the Narrative on Structural Health

Driving the Narrative on Structural Health

It’s physics, basic physics…but it’s hard to quantify in human tissue. And let’s be honest, there are many things about the amazing human body that we may never truly understand, which does not mean that they do not exist.

On Cupping and Scraping-We Need to Look Deeper

I explained how I observe specific movements…walking, throwing, cycling, even swimming, and how the trained eye can see where movement flows through the body with ease and where it doesn’t. When we have areas in the the body that don’t move well, the demand for movement is STILL there and gets transferred to another area of the body that was NOT designed to handle that load – leading to increased strain on joints, muscles, and tissues over time.

The Importance of Rest and Play

The Importance of Rest and Play

I used to push myself until I’d crash and burn, get sick, fall into depression, wrestle with weight, have constant GI issues, cold sores, you name it. Yes, I had some cellular and dietary things I needed to address, but I was not giving my body the rest, peace, and pleasure that it needed to keep my nervous system healthy.

Hitting the Reset Button: Breaking Inflammation Cycles and Reclaiming Health

Hitting the Reset Button: Breaking Inflammation Cycles and Reclaiming Health

“Mom…do you think there was diabetes 400 years ago?” My 13 year old is learning about the differences of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. “We probably only ate potatoes, rice, vegetables and meats back then?” These are conversations we have often as we daily address what healthy foods we can add to our day, and when we’ve crossed the limit of unhealthy foods. We strive for 80/20. Though this summer for me it was closer to 60/40…

REAL RESULTS

“Jen offers a unique and amazingly comprehensive approach to movement, recovery and function. She is able to identify & address issues in multiple body systems that contribute to specific inefficiencies in movement and stability with extraordinary precision and effectiveness. After a single session, I could finally sleep and move in the morning without the constant and consistent back pain I’d had for several years despite previous PT, self-treatment and exercise. Someone finally could touch and treat “that spot” and the surrounding connections so I can not only move, but move without pain. The difference in my posture and walking was visible immediately and I can finally get those parts that felt blocked and inhibited to turn on.  I am so excited and thankful to get out and use my back and legs. It feels like I can finally drive my body without the brake being stuck down.

Jen has the knowledge, education and training to address not only the orthopedic issues but to achieve to even greater levels of functional recovery for clients with her integration of the nervous and vascular systems to truly clear the drivers and contributors of dysfunction(s).”

Jenn is the best physical therapist I have been to. I came in with chronic shoulder pain, numbness in both pinkies and joint pain in my knees. She has a holistic approach and is very in tune with what the body needs and how to slowly and gently open things up and allow for healing. She also has great online courses for core strengthening and nervous system regulation.

I would recommend Jenn to anyone looking for a holistic and welcoming approach to healing the body.

Jen is great at finding the root cause of injuries and truly fixing them in ways other PT couldn’t.
My experience with Dr. Jennifer Shepherd has been exceptional! I've been working with her for approximately eight months now and word's can't explain the impact her services have had on my overall health and well-being! Her extensive knowledge, transparency, compassion, and willingness to hear your concerns is what makes her a pleasure to work with! I've worked with several individuals in my past but The Most High sent me the correct "Shepherd" this time to shepherd her flock! I am actively still working with her and when there appears to be a lack of hope she brings it! I HIGHLY recommend if you're in need of a spark in your health and wellness she's the individual to see! A true answer to my prayers! All glory and esteem to Yahuah The Most High!!!

As someone who has been to pelvic physical therapy before I thought I knew what to expect. But Jen does so much more! She focuses on the entire body, and works on my back to help my pelvis. While most PTs will tell you how all the muscles are connected to each other, they don’t always follow through on that. Jen does - she tries to trace the pain back to the source and go from there. Genuinely treating the problem and not just the symptom. She is truly a miracle worker. I would recommend her to anyone.

Jennifer has been such an amazing therapist. I have suffered severe TMJ issues for the last 15 years. I have seen multiple dentist, physical therapist, and TMJ specialists. None of which have looked at the root cause of the issue to try to heal every reason behind my TMJ like Jennifer has. I am so thankful for her in-depth knowledge of the human body as a whole.

Healing with a science-based approach. I originally came to The Center for plantar fasciitis. We are working on getting to the root of way more than the pain in my feet. Everything is connected. I highly recommend The Shepherd Center for Integrative Health.

Working with Jennifer has been a one of a kind experience! I’ve done PT for an injury in the past but this is so much different. She really takes her time to get to know you and works with your whole body to correct numerous issues. After just a short time of working with her my quality of life has improved so much and I am grateful to be in her care!

Jen has been working with my 3 basketball players and myself. She has completely eliminated my back pain and given me a regimen to remain pain free. As for my athletes, she significantly decreased or eliminated their knee, back and hip pain, but most importantly Jen has worked to increase their mobility and develop a plan to achieve the most efficient responses from their bodies which makes each one a better athlete.
